the CENTENNIAL
The Centennial is an intentionally designed community hub in the heart of Poulsbo, Washington. Just off the main highway 305, this two-story, 39,031 square foot building houses four local businesses: Vibe Coworks, Crabtree Kitchen + Bar, High Spirits, and ChocMo Chocolatier and Café.
Large storefront windows and skylights bring in a tremendous amount of daylight into each space This is most evident in Crabtree’s Garden Room which sits like a jewel box within the 200-seat farm to table restaurant.
Backed to a park and a creek, the design maximizes the view which can be enjoyed while dining or working. Wide balconies at Vibe Coworks and Crabtree offer outdoor seating. Design elements highlight local materials, including furnishings and fixtures made from trees sourced in Poulsbo.
Sustainability was an important project goal, in design and in business operations. Aside from maximizing views and daylighting, green design strategies included restoring the creek’s edge to its original habitat, capturing stormwater, reuse of local materials, and an edible landscape. Coworking is by nature promotes sustainability, allowing workers a smaller carbon footprint by working closer to home, and Vibe Coworks’ business model encourages collaboration and shared resources. Sited near a major bus stop and incorporating bike racks, The Centennial promotes alternative modes of transportation.
