Jamestown S’Klallam Healing Clinic

The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe is the North Olympic Peninsula’s largest primary care provider. They have a proven track record of administering first-class healthcare services to their community.

Deeply committed to their community’s wellness, the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe has taken the lead in partnering with other local healthcare providers to meet the growing need for opioid use disorder treatment across the Peninsula through this new medication assisted treatment (MAT) facility.  Unlike other so-called “dose and go” clinics, the Jamestown S’Klallam’s healing center will be only the third of its kind in the nation—providing full wrap-around services including primary care, dental, individual and group counseling, child watch, and social services.

To recognize the journey ahead for those battling this debilitating disease, the design team worked closely with tribal elders, story tellers, and artists to weave elements of the Tribe’s culture into the building and to make the stories of healing, change, and passage part of the recovery process.

Award: User Centered Design Award by the Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo
