Ioka Hood Canal Residence

Originally built by the owner, the existing home, with a daylight basement, sat on a waterfront lot with sweeping views of Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains.  The multi-level plan, which included a master suite on the third floor, no longer met their “forever home” goals.  The top floor was demolished while the second floor was renovated to accommodate single-level living, including kitchen, dining, office space, and a master suite.

The 3,180 SF home is nestled in the hillside, essentially hidden from view as you approach. Once in the home, views are immediately revealed through expansive windows and high ceilings.  A clean, simple form and palette provide the right backdrop for both art and nature.  Bright interior walls offer a canvas to display the owners’ unique art collection while the natural beauty of the Northwest shines against the exterior’s black-stained cedar siding.  The view is ever-changing color, light and mood.
