Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Multi-family Housing

The subsidized housing stock on this Indian Reservation near Pendleton, Oregon consisted of HUD-funded CMU buildings from the 1970s and a failed development from the 1990s. Both of these developments neglected to take into account tribal customs and cultural values of those who would live there.

Our previous experience working with the CTUIR elders and Housing Authority led them to engage us on the design of the first new subsidized housing on the reservation in 20 years. This multi-family housing community provides 8 new units of culturally-appropriate housing for the Tribe.
