DJC – Mike Miller Rice Fergus Miller
Architect Mike Miller is retiring this month after 19 years as a principal and owner of Bremerton-based architecture, interiors and planning firm Rice Fergus Miller. Miller has led the design of healthcare and senior living facilities. He joined RFM from Seattle architecture firm NBBJ, where he was a leader in senior living and healthcare. Miller came to realize that senior living, healthcare and hospitality design each serve a similar core audience. So at RFM he integrated those practices into a studio known as H3. His senior living projects at RFM have included Emerald Communities’ Emerald Heights in Redmond, Heron’s Key in Gig Harbor and Timber Ridge at Talus in Issaquah. His healthcare work has included St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale, where he planned and designed projects. His other medical clients have included Olympic Medical Center, Jefferson Healthcare, Virginia Mason and CHI Franciscan. He was on St. Michael’s board for two years and its foundation board for 14 years, leading it for three years. He won LeadingAge Washington’s Award of Honor in 2016 and received a University of Washington Milgard School of Business Leader of the Year award in 2006.
